Upland Twinflower (Dyschoriste oblongifolia)
Blooms best in full to part sun.
Average water needs
Size: 0.5-1 ft tall x 1 ft wide
Bloom Time: Spring, Summer, Fall
Upland twinflower is a lovely native ground cover for full sun to part shade. It is more drought tolerant that its cousin, the swamp twinflower, but it will do better with average amounts of water. It is not cold tolerant, but will reemerge if hit by a frost. Its small purple blooms are attractive to bees and butterflies and like its cousin, it is a host plant for the common buckeye butterfly. Other butterflies that are attracted to the blooms include the malachite and white peacock butterfly.
