Simpson's Stopper (Myrcianthes fragrans)

Can tolerate all light conditions.

Low water needs once established.

Size:     5-20 ft tall x 3-15 ft wide

Bloom Time: Spring

Simpson stopper is a lovely shrub with small bright green leaves. In the spring it produces little white puff blooms followed by orange berries that the birds love. It can be trimmed to a small hedge, or left to grow tall to make a privacy screen. In the shade it is less dense, but its lovely peeling bark is easier to see. In the full sun, it is more compact. Stoppers are a great alternative to the very common viburnum sold at big box stores.
