This silvery colored wildflower is naturally found throughout Florida in scrub, sandhills and flatwoods. It makes a short groundcover and can often be seen mown on upper slopes of many roadsides. The leaves are covered with silky hairs that give it a silvery look. It’s yellow aster-like flowers bloom in the fall. This particular Aster spreads from rhizomes to make a dense groundcover. The plant prefers full sun to light shade and well-drained sandy soils. Avoid heavily shaded or crowded plantings.
