Saw Palmetto (Serenoa repens)

Full sun to part shade.

Low water needs.

Size: 3-8 ft tall x 4-6 ft wide

This native palmetto is great for mass plantings or as a specimen plant. The berries are an important bear food, and more than 100 bird species, 27 mammals, 25 amphibian, 61 reptiles, and countless insects use the palmetto for food and shelter. The fan-shaped leaves have been widely used for thatch roofing and have been used for baskets and mats. This is a hearty plant for a home landscape. Make sure you allow enough space when planting this in your yard.
