Red Cedar (Juniperus virginiana)

I thrive in full sun.

I have low water needs.

Size: 40 ft tall x 20 ft wide

Bloom Time: Winter

This native, bushy evergreen tree is a great specimen tree or privacy barrier. It thrives in full sun and does not need any additional water once established. The thick green branches provide cover and food for birds and other wild life. It was originally used as a southern Christmas tree before trees were carted in from the north. The tree has a great symmetrical upright form which is great for the people that like a more manicured and tidy appearance. The superior wind resistance makes it a great tree for our hurricane prone peninsula.

Fun Fact: The blue fruit on the tree is actually a fleshy cone.
