Red Anise (Illicium floridanum)

Thrives in part to full shade.

Average water needs.

Size:     15 ft tall x 6-10 ft wide

Bloom Time: Spring, Summer

Red Anise is a beautifully fragrant evergreen screen or specimen plant for shady areas. This shrub blooms from spring to summer, followed by large, but beautiful, seed pods. It is fairly drought tolerant once established, and will only require irrigation during long periods of drought.  The leaves of red anise are intoxicatingly fragrant. If you would like, this shrub can be easily trained into a small single or multi-trunked tree.
