Narrowleaf Ironweed (Vernonia angustifolia)
Blooms best in the sun, but will tolerate some shade.
Low to average water needs.
Size: 2-3ft tall x 1 ft wide
Bloom Time: Summer and fall
Narrowleaf ironweed is a lovely lavender blooming wildflower for your garden or meadow. The butterflies, bees, and other pollinators adore it. After blooming, it dies back, but will reemerge the following spring. If you are able to let it self-seed, it will reward you the following year with more plants. It would look great in the middle portion of your garden. It works well alongside coreopsis, salvia, and skullcap.
