Mulberry (Morus rubra)

Full sun to part shade.

Low to average water needs.

Size: 12-36 ft tall

Bloom Time: Spring

Red mulberry is the only native mulberry in Florida. This tree is a spring bloomer, followed by dark plum colored berries. It can be very messy, so choose a space where dropped berries will not be a problem. The ripe fruit is edible to humans, and highly favored by wildlife. This tree will survive in shade, but will fruit more readily in full sun.
