Lopsided Indiangrass (Sorghastrum secundum)

Full Sun

Low to Average Water Needs

Size:     1-6 ft tall x 1 ft wide

Bloom Time: Fall

This short-lived native grass has gorgeous golden yellow blooms in the fall. It is typically grown in the background of a wildflower garden as its tall flower stalks are only visible in fall. The remainder of the year is looks like a moderate-sized grass. In a home landscape, this grass may look best when given a pruning after blooming. It is a host plant for multiple types of skippers. In the wild, the seeds germinate best after a fire.
