Fakahatchee Grass (Tripsacum dactyloides)

Full sun to part shade

Average water needs

Bloom time: Spring, Summer, Fall

Size: 4'-6' tall x 3'-4' wide

The native Fakahatchee grass is a great addition to the damp areas in your yard. It forms a nice clump and works well as an accent plant. The leaves are a bit rough, but the lovely white, pink, and rust colored blooms make up for it. This particular great is great at stabilizing banks of lakes, rivers, and ponds. Feel free to prune it back, but it is not necessary.

*Host plant for the Byssus Skipper butterfly.
