Blue Snakeroot (Eryngium aquaticum)

I bloom best in full to part sun.

Average water needs.

Size:     3-5 ft tall x 1 ft wide

Bloom Time: Late Summer to Fall

This is a striking short-lived perennial for bog and marsh gardens. It thrives in damp areas, but does not tolerate periods of flooding. Blue Snakeroot maintains a basal rosette of leaves through the winter in Florida. These leaves do not have teeth or spines like the Button Snakeroot. The bluish round blooms are particularly attractive to Black Swallowtail Butterflies and important for the native bee population. With the right light and moisture conditions, this would be a unique plant for your wildflower garden.
