Aquatic Milkweed (Asclepias perennis)

I thrive in part shade.

I need a lot of water to survive.

Size:     1 ft tall x 1 ft wide

Bloom Time: Summer

I am a great native milkweed for wet areas. I am a host plant for the monarch, soldier, and queen butterflies. The caterpillars will eat all of my leaves, but don’t worry, I will grow back. I need a lot of water so plant me where my feet will stay wet. I naturally live in marshes and swamps. I also go dormant in the winter, but will reemerge in the spring.

*Host plant for the Monarch butterfly.
