Aquatic milkweed is a great native milkweed for wet areas. It is a host plant for the monarch, soldier, and queen butterflies. The caterpillars will eat all of its leaves, but they will grow back. It needs a lot of water so plant it where it will stay wet. It naturally lives in marshes and swamps. It also goes dormant in the winter, but will reemerge in the spring.
